Much of the art that hangs in our home was created by my husband, Tom Schmidt.
Sometimes I order Tom’s paintings through Fine Arts America and have them framed. Other times Tom prints the painting out for me, and I go to our local Hobby Lobby to pick out a frame for it. 9 X 12 is a common size. If the frame I choose doesn’t come with a mat or the print is small and needs a larger or special mat to fit the frame, I’ll have Hobby Lobby cut one or two. Cost is minimal.
Tom is a photographer and professional digital artist who uses Photoshop CS4 and Corel Painter to transform photographs he takes into fine art. His work is available online through Fine Art America at TOM SCHMIDT WALL ART were you can buy framed prints and other items.
Each piece of art we choose for our home is beautiful in its own right and has special meaning or holds memories for the two of us.
Just about every one of our walls has something on it. I especially love gallery walls. In our foyer, living room, and my home office, I grouped paintings together with other wall art we collected through the years for a nice eclectic mix. It’s not everyone’s style, but it’s definitely mine.

Right around the corner is a framed embroidery I did way back when I was doing embroidery. It’s called “Springtime.”

At the opposite end of the living room is a watercolor by Wesley Dallas Merritt called “The Look-Outs.”

The gallery wall in my home office features Tom’s painting, “Hampton Beach Walk.” It’s surrounded by treasures, including a pen-and-ink painting of “Mexico” by my brother and a “Cozy Corner” embroidery I finished from a kit my mom gave me one Christmas. Everything else is gravy—gifts from friends, framed photos of my websites, and other memories of meaningful moments that make me smile.
